Workshops on employability

The Employability Lab is your go-to place for workshops on everything from CVs and interview skills to networking and using social media to find jobs.Delivering workshops It is where you can participate in employer presentations and panels and networking opportunities.

The Employability team also run regular appointments and workshops at the student hubs on North and South Campuses.

The team at the Employability Lab don't place students and graduates in jobs. What they do is help you prepare so you can sort things out for yourself and learn how to apply for jobs and deal with employers without having to hold our hands all the time. Yep, so at the Lab you can practise interviewing with us, streamline your CV, set up a killer LinkedIn profile, meet employers etc...However we do have an online job board Elab Online and a on campus recruitment service AUT talenthub to help you access job recruitment.

Meeting employers on campusBusiness Career Fair at AUT

Over 300 employers came on campus last year providing heaps of opportunities for you students to meet potential future employers.

Along with our career and employability specialists, we have two employment relationships managers (ERMs) who work closely with employers, faculties, the employability team and students to put on events and bring employers onto the campus. The ERMs organise career fairs and employer presentations and encourage employers to offer workplace experience and graduate jobs to AUT students. Our employability and career specialists also develop strong connections with industry representatives.

AUT Edge Award/Beyond AUT Award

The AUT Edge Award and Beyond AUT Award (postgraduate only) are unique employability awards that help you develop employability skills through volunteering, leadership and challenges.Edge Award balloons

Run by the Employability team, the AUT Edge Award offers a supportive way to develop the ‘C’ skills employers desire in graduates; communication, creativity, curiosity, collaboration, cooperation, caring and community.

Employers tell us they love graduates who have been involved in extra curricular activities and/or part time work. So sign up and challenge yourself by volunteering at the City Mission or to clean up beaches or help at an opshop or events!
