A chance to mix and find your way

AUT Edge Award student Anisha Khatoon

“Before O Week I had no connection to the university and I didn't know the locations of anything. O Week made a huge difference and changed my approach to university,” says AUT postgraduate environmental science student Anisha Khatoon,

Volunteering is just one of the many activities Anisha became involved in over the year - she is volunteering on Motutapu Island planting trees in the image above. Volunteering may not sound like something you would do while studying but it is all part of building networks and confidence, while giving back, something Anisha embraced through Employability and Careers.

Anisha heard about Employability and Careers at one of the O Week presentations and realised there were lots of opportunities at AUT to learn about the workplace and prepare for employment.

“Go and find the Employability and Careers team. The lab is like a link between students, other students, alumni and the outer world.”Volunteering expo chat

She also signed up for the AUT Beyond Edge Award; an employability award run by Employability and Careers that she now strongly recommends students should have to do.

“Why? Because it helps you to network a lot and helps you challenge yourself in so many ways.

My C-skills have improved significantly and I learned about many clubs and opportunities on campus that I wouldn't have known about if I hadn't got involved in Beyond AUT.".

“There are hundreds of things available on the campus for you to explore so make the most of it all," she advises.
