Access AUT students through Employability & Careers

Here are the three main points of contact for employers wanting to connect with Employability and Careers at AUT, including two ways to recruit students and graduates. We look forward to hearing from you.

1/ AUT talenthub - specialised recruitment service

AUT talenthub is a specialised free online recruitment service to help employers hire AUT students for internship and graduate roles. The roles must be of reasonable duration and paid.

Employers brief talenthub’s two experienced recruitment consultants, providing a job description, and they create the advertisement and advertise it on behalf of the employer. They then receive applications, interview students/graduates and create a short list for employers, thus managing that time consuming initial recruitment screening for them. Access to AUT talenthub is free for all AUT students and graduates (who can apply for talenthub roles for up to year after graduating from AUT).

Local internships are also offered through AUT talenthub to AUT students once they’ve completed their first year of study. Organisations offering internships through AUT talenthub include NZTE, Mental Health Foundation and Quest. All talenthub roles must be paid positions, whether internships or graduate roles.

You can also advertise internships through CareerHub (see below) using your own recruitment processes.

2/ CAREERHUB - general job board service

Another way to advertise full time roles, graduate programmes and internships directly to our AUT students and graduates is through our other online platform, CareerHub. Part time work and volunteering opportunities can also be advertised on CareerHub, unlike Internz.Applicant shaking employer hand

Just like other job boards (Seek, Indeed etc), employers put up vacancies and manage the applications. The difference? It is a free service to employers, graduates and students.
CareerHub is most popular with employers who want to view all possible applicants or belong to organisations that have their own application and recruitment processes but want to target their vacancy out to AUT students and graduates.

AUT students, including alumni, use CareerHub frequently because it is where they register to attend workshops, presentations and networking events run by Employability and Careers. Once they register, they receive notifications of jobs coming through CareerHub, including graduates for two years.

3/ EMPLOYABILITY LAB - home baseAUT E Lab 3

The Employability Lab is the physical home to our services on AUT’s city campus, but it isn’t a laboratory (I know!). The Employability Lab is where students:

*Hear presentations and/or meet with employers and community leaders to gain insight into industries, organisations and leadership
*Attend practical workshops and information sessions, including CV, cover letter, LinkedIn, interviews and networking workshops
*Sign up for the AUT Edge Award or Beyond AUT Award, extra curricular awards designed to build up work skills through community and leadership
*Participate in one-to-one appointments on anything to do with careers and employability, eg career decisions .

VISITING CAMPUS

AUT has campuses on North Shore (Akoranga) and in Manukau, as well as the central City campus. We love to bring employers on all three campuses to talk about their industry, what their organisation does and provide information about potential graduate roles and internships. Over 2020 we also did a lot of Zoom events and presentations that often attracted strong student numbers.

Employers wanting to find out more about visiting AUT, or participating in larger employability events, can contact one of our employability relationship managers. Significant events include Career Fairs, Employability Matters and Volunteering Expos.

AUT Career Fair

IN A NUTSHELL

AUT talenthub offers a specialised recruitment service by helping with the initial selection process. CareerHub is the online space for all other employer job ads and opportunities, as well as resources. The Employability Lab is the home of the team and the space where the team set up small events for you to meet students.

Hope this has helped!
